Aspheric lenses use sophisticated technology
to produce lenses which are both flatter and thinner, but also
produce a far superior image quality.
Aspheric technology can produce lenses as much as 50% thinner
and up to 45% flatter. For long sighted prescriptions this means
lenses that are much thinner and lighter, but also have a far
less bulbous appearance. For short sighted prescriptions the
lenses are thinner and produce less of the minification effect
of the eyes that many myopes suffer from with older spherical
design lenses.
The image produced by an aspheric lens is far
less distorted compared to a standard spherical lens. All
lenses have an Optical Center which produces the best image. The
further from the optical center the eye looks the more distorted
the image becomes (This is called spherical distortion).
Aspheric lenses have an irregular curvature which eliminates
spherical distortion and hence produces a truer image.

lens.

The spherical distortion produced by a long sighted lens.

Short and Long sighted Aspheric lenses with little or no
spherical distortion.
By design, Aspheric lenses are up to 50%
thinner and 45% flatter. The can be as much as 30%.
